Convocation History Programs Pastoral Ministry Services Quest The Services Convocation Provides

After many years of service Convocation's pastor, Colette Hoff offers guidance and support to individuals, couples, and families, in all stages and phases of the life cycle. She also provides organizational consultation to work and living groups. Much of her work is done through Quest: A Counseling and Healing Center, which offers a professional context for the therapeutic work. Colette is a gifted coach and counselor, whose wisdom is grounded in years of practical application as well as ongoing study of transpersonal psychology, the perennial philosophy, and current thinking about human development.

In her work with individuals, Colette recommends a careful self study, including exploring family of origin and life history. For couples, she faciltates “friendship training” as well as assisting partners in acting compassionately toward each other’s frailties and limitations. With families she teaches the concept of co-parenting and a system’s approach to empower families. Parent coaching and child study are two common activities in her approach. Her work with the Third Age—with people who are preparing for retirement or experiencing the challenges of being elderly—focuses on supporting health and hopefulness and teaching the importance of ongoing relationships. She often quotes the adage, “mental health isn’t measured by the absence of problems but by the way you deal with them.”
